His children's books (The Jungle Book, Just So Stories, Puck of Pook's Hill) have been very successful since their publication. He was the youngest author and the first in the English language to receive the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1907 "because of his power of observation, originality of invention, vigor of ideas and remarkable narrative talent which characterize the works of this world-famous writer."
