Peyo (1928-1992) was a Belgian cartoonist.
Between 1945 and 1951, Peyo explored all the possibilities offered by his taste for drawing. He tried his hand at a wide variety of worlds: pirates, cowboys, Indians... He also draws for advertising, then, with the help of Franquin, he joins Le Journal de Spirou in 1952.
Peyo finds his style, develops the medieval universe of Johan, then that of the Smurfs. The plates are a model of readability, flexibility and dynamism. The pencil, which can be seen under the inking, testifies to the work necessary to achieve this result.
