Olivier Ledroit 's talents as an artist and illustrator are superbly displayed with this tightly coiled dragon poised on the peak of a colonade, its entablature long having toppled. The muted architecture of a still magnificent city is now dominated by the presence of this great dragon, rendered in terrific detail. We can feel the tension in its bunched muscles and can nearly feel the metallic taste in our mouth as we hypnotically stretch out to touch its gleaming gun metal scales. Gorgeous.
After studying at the École Supérieure des Arts Appliqués Duperré in Paris, Olivier Ledroit became an illustrator, collaborating with scriptwriter Froideval to create Les Chroniques de la Lune noire. He then adapted Philip K. Dick's Ennemis mortels and created La Porte écarlate for Soleil. With Mosdi, he signed Xoco, then moved into dark fantasy with Requiem, chevalier vampire. His works, notably Wika, blend fairy tales and steampunk universes, and he stands out for his direct color work, becoming a major figure in 1990s comics.
