Portfolio 50th Anniversary Angoulême

50 international comic strip authors were invited to celebrate, through their drawings, the half-century existence of the Angoulême International Comics Festival. The pieces of art gathered in this portfolio showcase the artists’ singular attachment to this not-to-be-missed event at the end of January, and to the ninth art in general.

Through anecdotes, memories, nods to iconic characters and tributes to their elders or peers, these testimonials create a global memory of this exceptional events and of all of those who joined it over the years.

These artists and authors come from France, Italy, Spain, the UK, Germany, Croatia, Estonia, Lebanon, Israel, South Africa, Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, the USA and Japan. Some are not yet 20; others are almost 80. They're called " proficient" or "emerging", whether their fame precedes them, or if they're fresh out of school. Although their practices may be different, and to many, incomparable, what they all have in common is comics, as well as the Angoulême Festival -- having come here, won awards or simply contributed to its influence.

This portfolio contains 50 poster reproductions and a 16-sheet booklet (in French only).
