This illustration shows the production imageboard, used during pre-production to direct the artwork of the film Ghost in the Shell and features the scene just after movie's main character, Major Kusanagi chased the villain down and out an empty alley. Due to the strong elements of action in the plot, after discussing the storyline with the director of the movie, Shuichi Kusamori wanted to convey a sense of freedom and liberty in his drawing.

Shuichi Kusamori is a Japanese art director and background illustrator. Background artist on Ghost in the Shell. He was also artistic director on the second instalment, Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence in 2004, and on other well-known Japanese anime licences such as Metropolis and the Psycho-Pass series.
This print is published by Galerie Riekeles, in collaboration with the author and Kodansha. It is a high-quality reproduction, as faithful as possible to the original work, accurately rendering down to the smallest detail the breathtaking landscapes and backgrounds that made the anime from which they are taken international successes.
