About the artist

Iain McCaig is best known for his work as a designer, but he is also an illustrator, writer, director and teacher. His talents are many, but his one passion is storytelling. McCaig is an artist whose life has long been devoted to that, and he uses a wide range of media — painting, illustration, animation, film, interactive games and screenplays — to evoke dreams, magical tales and mythic visions.

Iain McCaig has been working with Industrial Light and Magic since 1989. He works on various feature films as a designer, art director, storyboard artist and animator. He was one of the main designers of the Star Wars prequels, creating characters, creatures and costumes in his Skywalker Ranch animation studio.

He is the founder of Dananxi Studios, a production company dedicated to bringing magical stories to the screen. His film, The Face, opened at the Santa Barbara Film Festival in March 1998 and won the Gold Medal for "Best Family Film" at the Houston Film Festival. He is also a partner in Ninth Ray Studios.
