As a young Viking, Even Mehl Amundsen ventured forth from his native Norway in search of spoils, art and adventure, first plundering Cornwall, then criss crossing the Atlantic to Quebec, Prague, and back again to California. Though roaming is grand in its inimitable way, no harbour is sweeter than the one closest to home. Even is once again living in Norway as a freelance concept artist.
He continues to build his own magnificent imaginary world in TEGN, and frequently travels, teaching what he has learned in workshops and sharing advice with newcomers. He also teaches his process and approach through YouTube videos and his Patreon account
He has worked for numerous studios, including Karakter, Ubisoft, Blizzard, Riot, Axis Animation, Blur, Guerilla Games, Wizards of the Coast, Volta Studios, and Ubisoft.
366 days, 366 sketches telling 366 stories, some smaller, some greater. TEGN was shared first with the online community, now published as a series of beautiful books: TEGN - Book One - by Even Mehl Amundsen is the first of three books that together tell the whole story that started as a doodle on a New Year's day: "draw something today, and the next day and the next". Soon the doodles took on a life of their own, summoning up grand adventures and ideas for a world and its associated characters that emerged slowly from the mists of Even's imagination.
The result is eye widening evidence of Even's superlative skill in depicting the fantasy realm. He complements his characters with impeccably written stories, creating even more vivid images in our mind.
